Installation
The hardware unit is primarily intended to be mounted at the stern, above any solar panels, biminis, or other structures that could disturb the airflow.
It is important to keep the unit away from magnetic metals, as these can affect the compass.
Ensure that the red alignment mark points as accurately as possible in the boat's longitudinal direction. This is required for the app to display the boat's compass heading correctly. (This alignment is not required for displaying wind direction.)
The Windwaze hardware unit is designed around a 200 mm long, 40 mm diameter ASA tube that houses all electronics. The tube also serves as the mounting interface and can be attached directly to existing pipework, such as bimini frames, solar panel mounts, satellite terminals, or similar structures.
In addition to mounting the unit by fastening the tube directly to existing pipes or tubes, the bottom of the tube includes a 25 mm adapter. This can be used with standard 25 mm pipes or mounting hardware, or to attach an extension tube if additional height is required.
Power is supplied via a cable exiting the bottom of the tube. Route the cable to a dedicated connector with a permanent 12 V DC supply from the boat's electrical system.
